Question?

Is being a good liar and good or a bad trait? And let's say (for hypothetical reasons) I am very good at lying and I used my 2 month old baby to get out of a playdate today?? (No Julie I really want to play with you so don't worry) And I would never use my skills for evil- I swear :)

The Green Light and a Little Too Much TMI

No wonder the hubby was super duper nice to me this morning- I have my 6 week check up today and the green light for nookie. Now I wonder how I can work this to my advantage. I do need a new pair of cute shoes :)

The Sigh

Yesterday I took the girls to visit my grandma. Not a big deal- just a 45 min. drive to the oasis for 55+ people. The place where grandchildren visit, but are not seen or heard and golf carts is the typical mode of transportation. Anyway, we went to the clubhouse for lunch and for some reason I was so nervous. How was I going to entertain a 4 year old during lunch so she does not disturb the people there who were eating.? Normally I wouldn't care as much, but this is where 85 year old people come to eat and I would hate for Julia to release the scream of death. Well lunch went fine- no major incidents and she actually ate! So we got in the car to go back to GG's house and I let out this huge *SIGH*. That got me thinking that I will probably sigh like that for the rest of my life. It is the mom's sigh of relief. Good at a restaurant- sigh. Doctor says it is just a cold- sigh. Was good for the babysitter- sigh. Then I realized that when they are older the sighs will be because they are safe. Home from a party- sigh. First time alone driving in the car and home safe- sigh. Meeting the man of their dreams and I like him- HUGE sigh.

Having the baby smile at me in the middle of the night and Julia wake up and say "I love you Mommy."- that is the biggest and best sigh of my life :)

PS The baby slept through lunch- got to love that!!!

One Hand

Here are the things I have learned to do with one hand:

1- Make a bottle
2- Butter toast
3- Brush my teeth (that includes putting on toothpaste)
4- Put make-up on
5- Dress myself
6- Write this blogger entry (it is taking like 10 minutes to do so)

I prefer to do these things using both hands, but when you are holding on to this how can you resist??

PS The first thing Julia said to me this morning was "Mom, who got kicked off American Idol last night?"

We are Here and We are Sick

We are here- not going anywhere. We are coughing. We are snotty. We also have f-ing pink eye!!! The doctor told me that they can get pink eye when they have a cold because it is their congestion coming out of their eyes. Um...yeah that is gross! So I am washing sheets, washing hands, and I keep rubbing my own eye thinking that I have it. Also, the big kid is sleeping in our bed so I am sure you know what that is like.

Okay I needed to complain and now I am done- for now :)

Dilemma

I think I have mentioned before that I do not breastfeed Samantha. This was a personal choice since I had such a terrible time with Julia. I suffered a lot with her and tried my hardest- it just didn't work. I realized that at the time I was very miserable and I didn't want to project those feelings towards my child, so why just make her happy and get her fed :) So with Samantha I breastfed in the hospital and when I got home I gave her a bottle. She is doing really well with it so I am happy and she is happy. Anyway, I have this "friend" who is the biggest advocate for breastfeeding. She has a 4 month old who she keeps strapped to her boob at all times. I recently visited her and she made me feel very guilty for not breast feeding. So much that she made me very uncomfortable. Now I think that if you breastfeed then you are awesome! You have done something so wonderful for your child!! My BFF was the champion at it and I admire her for that. I just don't like being told that I am doing something wrong because I don't. My baby is happy and I think that is what matters the most. Anyway, before this turns into a breastfeeding V. bottlefeeding thing my real question is- Should I say something to her about how she made me feel? OR Should I just not be friends with someone that made me feel that way and avoid her? I am a super chickenshit when it comes to confronting this friend and I have no idea why. Maybe the real issue is that I need to get a backbone :)

Some serious stuff for a Friday-don't ya think :)

First Smiles

The last three days I have been able to coax smiles out of Samantha. This morning she smiled at me when she woke up and it made my heart melt. Is she really almost 2 months old?? Geeze I swear they grow so fast. Well here is the best shot I could get. I really suck at taking pictures so this was like 1 of 60 I took :)

Hope everyone is having a good week!

6 Weeks

Someone told me that 6 weeks after having a baby is when your hormones peak and you can either feel better or worse. I am feeling a a tad bit better, but I could go with out the following statements that have come out of my husband's mouth this past week.

  1. "I think I am going to be late coming home tonight"
  2. "So what's for dinner?"
  3. "I think you forgot a couple of things at the grocery store"
  4. "Could you do me a favor and pick up my dry cleaning?"
  5. "So 6 weeks means we can have sex, right?"

I have answers to his questions and they involve either a bad word or just the middle finger. I am surprised that I still am married because I have been a tiny bit difficult. I love you honey- just give me another week and I should be on the right track :)

To Be Young Again

Remember when it was this easy? Who would have known a deflated balloon can provide hours of entertainment. I will remember that when I am tempted to buy her the new fancy toys :)

Hope you all had a great weekend!

PS- I did not dress her- she did and had to wear her new Vans that she got for her birthday :)

Alright I Will Play

I was tagged (along with everyone in the blog world) by NaeNae in NC. So here are the 6 Random Things About Me:

1- I have the longest second toe of anyone I know. It is almost like a finger. Someone told me that meant I would be the head of my household. Well according to me that is true. I wish that I could learn to flip people off with it because I could do it secretly and they wouldn't know :)

2- I bet I have seen every single episode of "Beverly Hills 90210" at least 50 times. I can tell you within the first 10 seconds of the show which episode it is. I still to this day have a thing for Luke Perry :)

3- Sometimes when I am cooking I pretend that I am doing my own cooking show. I will have a dialogue in my head like I am telling someone how to prepare the meal. I bet I look really dumb when I do this.

4- I sing all the time, yet I make up the words to most songs. Sometimes they are nice songs, but most of the time there are some bad words thrown in there. Of course I have to watch my mouth with a 4 year old because I would die if she went to school singing something I said.

5- I went to the same school district since I was in preschool. So I graduated high school with people that I had known since I was 3. I still have 4 friends that I talk to that I have known since 5 grade.

6- I have a v-neck t-shirt fetish. I bet I own one in every color. It gets to where I buy about 10 of them every 6 months or so because I wear them all the time. Old Navy has great deals on them right now (2 for $10). I always have at least 2 black and 2 white because they go with everything.

Well that is it folks. Now you know how weird I am :)

-Amanda

Oh yeah I am not tagging anyone because it seems everyone has done this one already, but if you haven't feel free to play along. Let me know if you did.

WARNING*

*If you like being a mom and you never complain about it then don't read this post. I am a new mom again so I think I have every right to complain :)

This is how my day is going so far:

- Was up for almost 3 hours last night with a baby who refused to close her eyes. I would rock, walk around, pat the butt, sing, pat the back- EVERYTHING!! So around 3:47 am I just put her in her crib and she fell asleep on her own. Shit if I had known that I would have done it 3 hours ago :)

-Was super late dropping Julia off at school. It is a bitch to get yourself and 2 kids ready for the day. Especially when one has hair that you have to comb out. That in it's self is a 15 minute ordeal! Was in the car for about 10 min when the baby decided to go poop. Had to go home and change her. Then she barfed on me. Had to change myself.

-I think I am going to get Julia's ears checked because we seem to have an listening problem in this house OR I just like saying the same thing over and over again.

-My skin is breaking out and it makes me very sad. Aren't I 30? Not 15 :)

Alright I am done. I promise to be more positive. I think I am going to talk to my doctor on Monday (6 week check-up) and see if he thinks I might need something for my anxiety. Maybe just a cocktail or two tonight will help :)

The Housewife Shuffle

Today as I was doing my "morning time things" I realized that I do almost the same thing every morning that it could be a dance routine. I would call it "The Housewife Shuffle" because I am shuffling around my house in slippers and a robe. I think that it might go great to the tune of "Canned Heat" By Jamiroquai because it has got a beat and you can dance to it :) So my dance would go something like this:

-Shuffle to the sink. Make a bottle and shake it up
-Dance my way to the chair. Feed the baby. Pat to the beat to burp her.
-Get up on my feet-. Sway my hips to the music as I am trying to get the baby to go back to sleep.
-Dance my way to the fridge. Kick my feet as I make a sippy cup for Julia.
-Do pelvic thrusts as I wait for her waffle to cook
-Dance my way up the stairs and do disco movements as I making the beds.
-Shake my booty as I am loading laundry into the washer.
-Stop for a dance break in between cleaning up last nights toys and collecting dirty clothes.
-Dance my way back down the stairs, pausing for a dramatic grabbing of the banister and striking a pose.
-Shuffle my way to the coffee maker, shake up the creamer, and one last booty shake as I sit down. End of song :)

Is that hot or what??? I bet I look hot doing it :)

What would your "Housewife Shuffle" song be??

Monday

I didn't have a name for this post that didn't involve a bad word so I thought I would just call it the lamest day of the week. As you can see I am in a fabulous mood :) We had a very busy weekend with no real down time and the Hubby and I are paying for it today. We had a birthday party for Julia at our local bowling alley which turned out to be awesome, but then that also meant a kid with no nap, hyped up on sugar for the rest of the day. Then yesterday the Greatest In-laws in the World came over for Easter, which also meant a kid with no nap all hyped up on sugar. I think that Julia finally calmed down around 7:30 last night. Up till then it was just a lot of aggravation. Unfortunately, I am starting to see the effect of the new baby on her and it is not fun at all. I do feel very sorry for her, but at the same time I miss my sweet little girl I once knew. I can't really blame her either- this is hard for all of us. Luckily the Hubby and I had a talk last night and I feel much better. Sometimes though I wish I could get in the car and drive away- isn't that terrible??

-Amanda

I almost forgot- the baby has thrush too. Aren't I just a ball full of happiness today? :)

One Month

Yesterday Samantha was one month old. God it seems it was like I just gave birth to her :) Anyway, she does all the stuff a one month old is supposed to do. She also sleeps 6-7 hours straight at night and now that I just wrote that I probably jixed myself :) Oh well she is so pretty to look at that I don't care if I have to hold her all night long. So Sweetcheeks we love you and are so glad that you are here :)

Happy Easter too! Hope that you and your families have a great day!

Picture this- Me, 2 four year olds, one 20 month old, 24 hard boiled eggs, 2 packages of COLORED DYE (uh huh- that had to be emphasized), and cream colored grout on my tile counter tops and on my floor tiles.

Do I have anything to be worried about??

4 Years Old

Today my Julia Marie turns 4 years old. Little did I know that 4 years ago today I would be giving birth to myself. She is full of drama and spunk, which I have been told I am too. Of course she has a little of her daddy mixed in- his love of music and art. Lately it has been a little tough for her since the birth of her sister, but she has been an awesome big sister so far. I just can not believe that I once held this little girl in my arms and rocked her to sleep. I am very lucky to have such a great child and I feel blessed everyday!

So Happy Birthday my love. Mommy and Daddy love you so much!

Family Fun Day

Today we decided to venture out for our first official family outing with the baby to the Wild Animal Park in Escondido, CA. All went well since a baby at 1 month old pretty much sleeps the whole time. We had an awesome time and I thought I would share some pictures (and yes you can see my nice new blonde hair)

Julia and I at the entrance to the park

Julia at the Petting Zoo

The biggest f-ing gorilla I have ever seen. He was totally the leader of the pack (as you can see why)

What Samantha did the whole time :)

Cute pic of the kid at the jungle gym

I never put pictures on here- that was fun :)

Sunday

I am blonde again! Believe me that is a good thing :) Also I left the hubby with both kids for 4 hours and he didn't complain and actually said he would do it for me anytime. Now where should I go???

Hope everyone is having an awesome weekend!

My Story

I wasn't sure if anyone wanted to hear Samantha's birth story, but some of you have said that you would like to know. I really honestly had such a good experience that I feel like I could do it again (don't worry Jon we won't) Julia was a difficult birth since I was induced and she just didn't feel like coming out. She was vacuumed out, I had a fever, and, she was "sunny side up". I was super afraid that Samantha was going to be hard, but it turned out to be the complete opposite. So here is my story :)

I was supposed to be induced on March 16th and I was counting down the days. I had a doctor's appointment on March 13th and I was only 1 cm dilated and he was going to "strip my membranes". He ended up not being able to, but for some reason I think her did something because 2 hours after my appointment I started to have really bad cramps. I couldn't even stand up straight when I went to pick Julia up from school. I called Jon to have him come home and when he did I took a nap. When I woke up my cramps were gone. Jon went and got dinner and we started to eat. In the middle of eating I had 4 HUGE contractions about 3 min apart and then they didn't stop. I called my doctor and asked him what to since I did not go naturally go into labor with Julia I had no idea. He told me to go to the hospital and he would meet me there. When I got to the hospital I was 2 cm dilated so they checked me in since I was in active labor. I contracted till I was given something to go to sleep. When I woke up the next morning my contractions and pain were gone.

I totally freaked out because I thought for sure they were going to send me home since I was not having anymore contractions. The doctor came in and said that I had dilated to almost 3 cm so they were going to give me pitocin and get me going. I was so happy! As my contractions started to get stronger I really was in no pain. The doctor told me to get an epidural anyway just in case so I did. Around 7 pm they were going to break my water since I was having a hard time dilating past 4 cm, but within 20 min of waiting for the doctor to come back, my water broke. After that it took 2 1/2 hours to go from 4 to 10 cm. My contractions got pretty strong after my water broke and I had this nurse who taught natural child birth. She was so awesome! She basically talked me through my contractions and I kinda went into a sleep mode, which relaxed me so much that when I was ready to push it took 8 times. She actually had to tell me to wait to push because they couldn't find my doctor. But he came just in time and Samantha came into this world on March 14th at 10:23 pm. She hardly made a peep and still is very mellow like that. So in total I was in labor for 12 hours which is nothing compared to the 27 I was with Julia. I am so happy that my last time giving birth was so awesome because I will remember it that way :)

Thanks for reading this. I am glad I shared :)

Monday

Well I am now in my first week of being "old". I am really okay with it (uh huh) My party on Saturday night was so much fun. I have a great group of girlfriends who have great husbands and kids. My family was also here and I can't say enough good stuff about them :) There were 8 kids all under the age of 4 in house and they were very well behaved. I even paid them each $.50 to clean up the playroom and they did! Aw the power of bribing :)

I had some cocktails, but not too much. I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to wake up to feed the baby. That didn't matter anyway because the hubby did the feeding. She sleeps in 5-6 hour shifts so she really only wakes up once in the middle of the night. Yes, I know- my kid rocks! We bottle feed in this house so I am sure that has something to do with it.

Thank you so much for all of your birthday wishes. You guys also rock in my book!!

Reflection

Since my 20's will come to an official close at midnight tonight, I thought I would reflect on the stuff that I accomplished in those years. There is so much that I am proud of and so much that I am thankful for. And if my 20's were this good then maybe my 30's won't be so bad. Maybe they are hiding something fantastic that I am not aware of yet. So my mantra for tomorrow and the next 10 years will be- Bring it On! I am ready :)

Things I Did In My 20's
- Met Jon
- graduated College
- Got my first "real" job that totally sucked
- Got Married
- Gave birth to the 1st grandchild on both sides :)
- Bought a house
- Saw Madonna in concert
- Actually stuck to a diet and lost 40 lbs.
- Gave birth to Samantha
- Completed a family :)
- Was able to get through the brake up Brad and Jennifer

I am sure there is more, but that is the major stuff. So now I ask you- what are some of the things that you are proud of that you have done in the last 10 years?

The Best Birthday Present Ever

Okay so 2 days and counting till the big 3-0! I am okay- just sitting here counting the grey hairs and wondering why I decided to dye my blonde hair brown which shows them more. Anyway, my darling little baby decided to give me a little present last night. She slept for 6.5 hours in a row!! Can I get a "Hell ya"?? And if that is not good she also waited till the Hubby got up with her to poop 2 times!! I love when she tortures him like that. Why does poop bother men so much?? So today I am a happy girl- let's hope I stay that way :)

-Amanda

PS- Gabby I didn't open the box you sent- Aren't you proud??

The Countdown

Well today is the one week countdown till I am officially an adult. In 7 days it will be my (okay swallow and take a deep breath Amanda) 30th birthday. This year I am going to have a few friends over so they can help me have my first official cocktail since having the baby. Compared to last year, this will be a mellow one :)

Anyway, I got my present from the Hubby yesterday. Now he is not one for surprises and being born on April Fool's day either am I, so he told me what he was getting me this new ipod. I was very happy! It has everything and I can't wait to fiddle around with it! I am so spoiled :)

I hope everyone is having a great weekend! Hopefully good weather is with you!

Not Too Shabby

My friend Robin was kind enough to take my Weight Watchers scale out of my house while I was pregnant. Yesterday she decided to return it to me- thank you very much! Anyway, if you were a reader of this blog before I got pregnant, you would know that I had been on a diet for about 10 months and had lost 40 lbs. So when I got pregnant I went wild and started to eat, thus gaining the 30 lbs. I did :) Oh yes, I am the champion eater!! Well this morning I thought I would brave the scale and to my surprise I am only 7 lbs. more than I was when I got pregnant. I was shocked!! Can you really lose 23 lbs. in a week after having a baby?? Seems so strange. So today I am going to go through my clothes and get out of these sweats and see what fits me. Wish me some luck!!

-Amanda

Question?

Do you let your kids win when you play board games with them?? I might let some stuff slide when we are playing, but I want her to learn how to play the game correctly. Is that too harsh? Should I let her win all the time? Don't get me wrong- she does kick my ass at Candy Land all the time :)

-Amanda

PS As you can see we are all fine here. Baby is good, Julia is good, and I am on the path of being good. Just might take me a little while longer to get there :)

Into the Lion's Mouth

So I woke up this morning at 4 am to feed the baby. She has been so good- only waking up once a night to be fed, so I can't complain. I was ready to put her back to bed so that I could lay down for a little longer when Julia woke up and said she had to throw up. Checked her temp and it was 101. Started to panic and bit since this will be Jon's first day back to work and Julia would not be going to school as planned. Had a bit of a crying thing, but got over it. Also, my boobs are like bowling balls right now and hurt! I have also been in the house for 4 days and getting a little stir crazy.

So what have a I learned so far? That I am a mother of 2 kids now and shit happens. I know I have to deal and I think that is helping. I am no supermom, but at times I know I can be. Also, there is no harm in crying in the bathroom if it helps :)

Me vs. The Princess

Still no baby, but countdown to D-Day has begun- 3 days!!! We kept saying "this time next week..." this whole weekend. My favorite- "This time next week I can drink a beer!" or "This time next week I can sleep on my stomach."

Going to the doctor for the final exam and then I will be spending time with the other little one in my life the next couple of days. I promise that Miss. Drama Mama will update when things happen. I thank all of you for all of your kind words through out this whole pregnancy. You guys rock!!!

I Forgot

You know the last time I was pregnant was like 4 years ago and I forgot how the last days just drag on. I feel like I ate a whole turkey and it is just sitting in my belly. It takes me like 5 minutes just to get up the stairs in our house. Then yesterday, one of the girls in Julia's class told me that her mom had her baby and we were due on the same day. Hello?? What about me?? Then I remember I have had friends go into their 41st week of pregnancy and can't even imagine how uncomfortable that must be. I am just sitting on the pity pot today and believe me it is quite a large one in order to fit my ass :)

Got Any??

Since I am sort of house bound in my last days of freedom, I am trying to fill my Netflix queue so that I have something to either entertain me now or at 3 in the morning with a baby in my arms. Got any movie recommendations?? I have seen most of the new stuff except for "Walk the Line" which I am waiting for. Just was wondering if there is a movie that is a must see that I might have missed :)

I hope you guys are having a good week!

Good News

So I am off permanent bed rest and my medication because my blood pressure was 100% normal. The baby is doing well too which was my main concern. Other than that everything is great and we scheduled my induction for March 16th. Maybe I will have a St. Patty's baby after all :) I am just happy that the light at the end is finally within reach!

Thanks for all of your support! You guys are awesome!

-Amanda

The Three Things

I have come up with the only three acceptable things I want to hear out of my doctor's mouth today. If he comes up with something not on the list, I might just be on the news tonight for causing a riot outside of my OB's office.

1- "Oh you are 3 centimeters dilated. Time to get you to the hospital to have this baby."
2- "Oh your blood pressure is fine so you can come off of bed rest today if you want."
3- "You know you have been such a good patient that I am going to induce you no later than Friday."

So keep your fingers crossed he listens :) Oh god I hope he listens!!!

-Amanda

PS- I am so happy that the song form "Hustle and Flow" won for best song last night. I have been singing it ever since I saw the movie :)

Still Here

By the end of this bed rest there is going to be a dip on my side of the bed where my big fat body has been positioned all this time. As you can see I am a little bitter about this whole bed rest thing :) There is something though that I have learned during this whole thing. I have a hard time depending on people since I am usually the one people depend on, so this experience has taught me that people don't mind if you lean on them every once and while. Actually they insist and make you do it even when you don't want to. I have such a great support group with family and friends that I am very lucky. I just wish I could appreciate them under different circumstances :)

I know there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Just wish there was a faster way to get there :)

A Forced Blog Vacation

My doctor visit on Thursday did not go as well as I planned. I actually ended up in the hospital for a night so they could monitor my blood pressure. It has been fine till now, but it spiked and so my doctor wanted to monitor me. Now I am on bed rest and medication that makes me dizzy. Yeah for me!! Anyway, it looks like this little girl could be here by next weekend since he wanted to induce me last night, but she needs to cook a little longer. So just wish me luck that I don't go crazy over here. These are the times I wish I had a laptop :)

PS Oh yeah and baby's head is down so it looks like a I will be pushing her out :)

Why?

Why is it that I am getting ready to go to the doctor this morning and it is like I am getting ready to go on a date. I shaved my legs (and for 9 months pregnant that is a task), blow dried and straightened my hair, and I even broke out the signature scent. I mean the hubby is lucky if I shave my legs every three weeks at this point. My doctor is a man so I am sure that has something to do with it or I am just pathetic and will take any bit of attention right now even if it is from my OBGYN :)

Big Fun

I've got nothing over here but contractions, hemorrhoids, and backaches. Let's just call me a BIG pile of fun. Oh yeah and I also cry for no reason- that makes my hubby really happy!! Brownies don't even cut it anymore. I think labor might be the only thing that I might put a smile on my face- how sad is that??

PS Don't you just love it when a girl can feel so sorry for herself :)

Love My Girls

Last night my girlfriends threw me a little baby shower. We went out to eat and had such an awesome time. My mom and grandma came too which was nice since some of my friends they have never met. I got my swing and a bunch of baby clothes. They also got me a gift certificate for a facial and massage for after the baby comes (that was the best present of all). I just felt very loved and lucky last night to have such great friends.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!!

My New Favorite Thing

I was going through my "Bon Appetite" magazine that I still get every year courtesy of the best SIL on the planet and I found these cool chopsticks. Now I will admit that I am almost 30 years old and still have not figured out the wonders of chopstick use. It is something to do with moving the top one up and down that I can not follow. So I ordered these because we love anything Japanese in this house and so that Julia could use them too. Can't wait to get them!

PS- Have you checked out my BFF's blog?? She is back and I am so glad :)

Yeah Blogger is Back and Happy Valentine's Day!!

I have not been able to get into Blogger for 2 days and it was killing me :) But now that it is back I am a happy girl! This morning I woke up to cards and candy from my darling husband and he was home too! He decided to work from home today so that is ALWAYS a nice treat. He had also bought Julia her favorite Hello Kitty stuff so she is so Daddy's girl today. We have a party at her school where I, being a good mom and the last to sign up, are supposed to bring cut up veggies. We will see how that goes over :) Anyway, I hope you all have a great day and may it be filled with lots of love :)

Aren't I Pretty???

Today is my 2 year blog anniversary and Miss. Mia from the wonderful Ciao My Bella graced me with this girlie, yet simple design. Exactly what I wanted :) I thought since there were going to be so much girlie stuff around here, why not have my blog reflect that. Anyway, I hope that everyone is having a great weekend. Also I hope that it feels like February where you are because here is it actually 88 degrees and there are people swimming in our community pool!

Ear Infection Anyone??

Why is it that children have a knack for waiting to 4 pm to tell you that their ear hurts and by then the doctor's office is closing and you have to go to the nasty Urgent Care in your neighborhood? Then you find out that your new insurance that you thought was going to be so good has a co-pay of $85.00 for antibiotics. Then you wait at the pharmacy for an hour till you have to walk up and remind them that you have been waiting and she says "Oh I thought you were picking it tomorrow." Then you wait another 15 minutes while having 2 contractions and you do not get home till 8 pm. Then you remember that you have to wash some clothes if you actually want anything to wear for tomorrow since you have limited maternity clothing and have to do all of that before you get to sit down. Then you read this morning that one of your favorite bloggers is having a health crisis and you realize that you have nothing to complain about.

Thank God it is Friday :)

Yeah Me!

Not on bed rest!!!! Such a relief! I am supposed to take it easy though and I am still trying to figure out how I am to do that with a 3 year old and a house full of laundry. I am sure I will figure a way :) I also passed my 3 hour glucose test so I am free to eat whatever I want! The doctor did inform me that the baby is breech and she has 2 weeks to turn before we have to start thinking about some options. If I decided to have a c-section then this little girl will be here in less than 5 weeks! Luckily I have pretty much everything done besides the washing of the clothes and I have to pack a bag for Julia for when she stays with my dad. I think that I am ready though to be honest- bring it on!!

Thanks for all of your well wishes- I feel much better today :)

I Have a Feeling

I have been having contractions since last night. They are not consistent, but they hurt so much they take my breath away. Anyway, I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon and I have a feeling I will be put on bed rest. So not happy about this- actually it makes me want to cry, but what can I do?? So wish me luck and hopefully the next entry will not be about how much I want out of my bed :)

The Things I Have Learned

There are 3 things that I think I have learned through out this pregnancy that I think that I want to pass along to those that are in the early stages of having a baby or want to be pregnant. They are the truths that you hear little about and they are things that regardless of how they make you feel now, they are worth it in the end.

1- The more you try to make yourself comfortable while trying to sleep the less you will be comfortable. I have learned that if something hurts (like a certain part of your back or your shoulder) just lay there till it goes numb because no matter what position you are in it is all going to hurt anyway.

2- No matter how much you feel like you have to pee it will not match how much pee actually comes out. You could be dying and running to the bathroom, but only a little comes out. Your body has a natural way of saving those long bathroom trips for when you are finally comfortable in bed.

3- No matter how much you crave that huge chili dog or bean and cheese burrito with extra onions, you are going to pay for it for sure later. It could also haunt you the next day. So be aware of what you are putting in your mouth because at 3 in the morning it is not so nice coming back up.

That is the best 3 things I can offer. They are things that I think I have finally mastered at 8 months pregnant :) If you think you can add something- please feel free. The more advice we can give the better :)

Hope you all had a great weekend!

You Know When Part 2

You know when your kid is REALLY REALLY sick when she says "Mommy you can watch Oprah instead of Scooby Doo if you want."

Now you see there are advantages to having a sick little one- they don't have the energy to fight for TV time :)

-Amanda

PS Who knew that saying the word BOOB would get me 31 hits just for that word in one hour???

Thursday, February 02, 2006

You Know When

You know when you child is REALLY sick after she has thrown up for the third time and she says "Mommy, I don't want candy anymore. I want to eat just vegetables."

*She had a piece of candy after dinner last night and that was the last thing she remembered eating so I think she thought that's what made her sick.

Boobs All Around

So I have been seeing lately all the fuss that was made at the Golden Globes because of Drew Barrymore not wearing a bra. Now I think that it was kinda tacky especially because she knew she was going to be on TV and in front of millions of people. But on the other hand I am eight months pregnant and if I could I would go everywhere with no bra on I totally would. Yes, it would be the most frightening sight and I am sure I would get arrested for indecent exposure, but boy it would be nice. So I say if you can let those puppies free for a little while. And think of me when you are doing it since I am stuck in bra hell :)

Why??

Why is it when my husband messes up the computer it is not a big deal eventhough it took the whole weekend to fix? But when I do something that messes it up just a tiny bit it is like I pushed the big red button and the world is going to come to an end?? I guess I should know not to mess with men and their computers :)

Dumb Idea

Who was the smart one who decided to go to "Family Night" at a local restaurant, with a 3 year old who hadn't taken a nap, and think that it was going to be a mellow dinner?? Oh that dumbass was me. Here is a tip: If they say "kids eat free" guaranteed there will be 1,000 kids there all cranked up on the free soda they give away.

Yes I learned my lesson :)

On My Own

Well the hubby left last night for training for the whole week. This time I think I was not so anxious about it and I have come to terms with being a single mom for a week. But boy when he gets back he will be seeing my dust as I go to the spa or something really expensive and extravagant :) Also my Grandma is coming on Thursday and we are going to drive to my Mom's to spend the night. At least I know then I can sit for 2 minutes while they get my child her juice. I just really have a high affection for women who do this all on their own :)

In other not so exciting news, I have been having contractions lately and boy do they hurt! I am sure they are braxton hicks ones, but I don't remember them hurting. I go to the doctor on Wednesday so I think I should mention it. With all the weird complaining I do I am sure he will just tell me that I am fine.

So that is me. Nothing new, nothing exciting. Oh well- maybe I will just have to make something up :)

One Smart Cookie

Julia: "Mommy I don't want to go to school this morning."
Me: "But Honey you are all better and you should go to school."
Julia: "But who will you spoil all day long if I am not here?"

Hmmm... Do you think that is a problem or is she just REALLY smart??? And would it be wrong of me if my response was "ME!!!"??

The Barks

As I heard it from my bed this morning, I knew that today was going to be one of those days. It was the cough that sounded like a dog and a seal all together. I guess all the knocking on wood I have been doing about my child not being sick did not work. Oh well, there is nothing like a sick day filled with "Scooby Doo" and "Dora the Explorer."

Hope everyone had a good weekend :)

So Not a Model

I am a huge fan of "Project Runway". I wish I could be cool and could design clothes like that on the spot. Hell I would even consider knowing how to actually use my sewing machine cool. Anyway, I want to know where Heidi Klum gets all the cute maternity clothes she wears on the show. Do you think because Michael Kors who is a judge on that show he makes them for her? I would kill for that! Just once though I would like to see her in a pair of black maternity yoga pants (my all time favorite) and a t-shirt, with her hair in a pony tail, and black marks on her shirt where her daughter kicked her with her dirty shoes while she was in the cart at the grocery store :)

Why?

Why is there an actual TV show where girls compete to be Flavor Flav's girlfriend?? Were they in a bind because "Lost" has been in reruns for like 5 weeks and they needed something to fill a time slot?? And when I say girls I actually mean strippers competing to be his girlfriend :)

Thanks for all the name suggestions- they really helped!

The Name Game

Yesterday I had a little (tiny I swear) pregnancy related episode because I still not 100% set on the name we chose for this baby girl. First, my mom does not like it (yes she even made a face) and I think it is growing on my Mother in Law, but I can tell she is trying to get used to it. Second, the name Julia was so great when we picked it, I don't really get that same fuzzy feeling I did with this name. So what is a girl to do besides stress over a name for a child that is not even here yet?? Well, you guys are always so helpful- give me some ideas :) I figured it needs to be something old fashioned so that it fits with Julia. We also have a very short last name so it needs to have at least 2 syllables in it. Please- I am desperate :)

Thanks!!!!

Why Must I??

Why must I crave things that make me have the most terrible heartburn in the world. I know too that the minute it hits my lips I will pay dearly for it later. And then the things that I don't think will give me problems (like good ole peanut butter) kick me in the ass also. I have become a addict of tums (especially the tropical fruit ones). Do you think they have a support group for that?? Tums Anonymous??

The Coming of Age

Our sweet little kitty cat has become a woman in the last 48 hours and I am crawling out of my skin because of it. I have never had a girl cat before so I did not know what they did when they go "into heat". She has screamed and cried for 2 days now and it is making us crazy!! Totally my fault for lagging on getting her fixed. Hopefully she will stop soon and I can get her to the vet quick because I am not sure if we are going to make it :)

Such a Mom

The Hubby and I have been realizing lately that there is going to be another person in this family and we have to start making some room around here. You see, the Hubby is what you might call a "pack rat". Now it is not like you have to call the show "Clean Sweep" and have them haul a whole bunch of crap away, he just has things in boxes in our garage that I am sure we could do without (Denim jumpsuit w/ hand painted "Grateful Dead" logo on it) Anyway, in this realization we also noticed that our SUV, that was promised to hold 6 people does not do the job. The front seats have to put pulled all the way forward in order to get a car seat in the back. Not good when there will be 2 seats back there and I have to drive. So yesterday we decided that it was time for the dreaded mini-van. We searched, called, dealed, and walked away with this:

It was the easiest thing I think we have ever done and we got an awesome deal on it. So now I am "officially" a Mom. I can now fit in with all the over moms at preschool :) Now I think I am going to convince my SIL to get one so I don't have to be the only "cool" mom driving one :)

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

My Heart

This is the thing that makes it all worth it. The thing that I live for each day. And let me tell you when I saw this photo I cried. Hope everyone is having a good week!

Enough Already

I really need to stop watching "A Baby Story" because one, I cry everytime and it is not even my kid being born, and two because it freaks me out that I have to do that all over again. Julia took FOREVER to come out- so long that I had three shots of the epidural. My friend just had her third baby and it took 24 hours for her to come out when her other 2 were like 3-4 hours labor. I guess I am just being paranoid since I am closing in on double digits. I look forward to that long awaited martini when I am done :)

PS I am grasping at straws here my friends. There must be something interesting going on in my life besides being pregnant!!!

He Strikes Again

Could someone please tell my darling husband that if he is going to order Christmas presents for me on-line that he should have the email conformations sent to work. If there is an email that comes and says "Your Old Navy order has been shipped" I of course am going to open it. But hey can't complain, at least it was something on my list :)

Sorry I have been MIA for the last week. I have decided that I am going to take a self imposed week long blog vacation. Not too long, just enough so that I can come back and actually have something to say :) The hubby is home since he starts a new job soon and so we have just been hanging out as a family. Other than that nothing too exciting going on around here. I will keep reading and commenting since I can not live with out my blog buddies. Thanks you guys for keeping me entertained!

Thanksgiving and Such

Well we had a pretty mellow turkey day. My grandma invited us to her country club for dinner and I jumped at the chance not to cook. I did make Jon a turkey dinner last Sunday so he did get his all time favorites. So we just ate, hung out, and ate some more. I didn't gain any weight last month, but I bet this month will be different. I am like in the apple pie, Sees candy phase of pregnancy right now. So we will see on Wednesday what the doctor says :)

I have a friend who was supposed to be induced yesterday with girl #3, but they were so busy at the hospital they turned her away. She is already a week late and she is so miserable. I actually heard her cry and she NEVER cries. They were going to try to get her in last night so I am hoping I get a phone call today with some good news. Keep your fingers crossed :)

Anyway, that is my oh so exciting life. Sorry this blog has a lack of stuff lately. Check out my blogroll- those girls always have the best things to say :)

Wish Me Luck

Alright I am going to brave Target this morning in hopes of getting most of Julia's Christmas shopping done. If I don't do it now, then I will have an even bigger headache after Thanksgiving. I am actually feeling somewhat organized this holiday season which is a first for me. I usually am the one who thinks that going to the mall in the middle of December on a Saturday is a really good idea. Anyway, wish me shopping luck and maybe I will actually get some stuff on sale :)

Have you started your shopping yet??

-Amanda

Why He Isn't Allowed

My husband is not allowed to go grocery shopping with me. You see I have a system and it has been working for the nine years we have been together. If there is a time where he has tagged along for a shopping trip, the bill is about $75 more than I would spend and most of that would consist of junk food. Today he proved me once again. I had asked him if on his way home he could pick up some sour cream that I needed for dinner. The nice man that he is, said sure no problem. When he walked in the door, he was holding 4 grocery bags. Now I know that sour cream does not take up 4 bags. This is what he bought:

-Pop Tarts
-3 tubes of Pillsbury Cookie Dough
-One box of macadamia nut clusters
-Rice Krispy Treats
-Pez
-A bag of peanut butter cups
-Marshmallows

Oh he is so lucky he didn't forget the sour cream. So now I have enough junk food to feed a family of 8. And you know who is going to end up eating it all- ME. I remember next time that I should just go to the store when he gets home :)

Wednesday Randomness

Some thoughts for the day:

Alright God- it is the middle of November and it supposed to be 85 degrees here today. What happened to the coldness that I was so loving?? Please let whoever know that it is time for some fall here.

So tired of Paris Hilton I want to scream. Now they are saying her 24 caret diamond ring was fake. Well duh?? Only Elizabeth Taylor should be allowed to wear something so big. She did afterall marry 8 times- the woman deserves it :)

I have like 5 bags of clothes to go through before the baby comes. And you know when that will get done? The week before my due date :)

I miss sleeping on my stomach and I snore now.

I am wearing my Grandma's house coat she left here over the weekend and it smells like her. Man whoever knew that house coats were the bomb :)

Alright as you can tell I really have nothing to talk about. Hopefully you guys are more exciting.

Julia's Wish

Well it is official- we are having a baby! Today I had my ultrasound and I forgot how cool it was to see everything. The tech was awesome and explained everything to Jon and I. Just Peachy

Well Julia and I survived our first night without the man of the house. I actually slept and tried not to listen to every noise the house was making. I think the key is to run my child's ass off till she practically falls into bed :) She is been so awesome and I could have not asked for anything better. Her new thing though (which I think is a prelude to big sisterhood) is blaming things on the cat. For example, she spilled a bit of apple juice on the floor last night and I asked her "Did you spill your juice?" and she said "No. Fiona (aka the cat) did it." She also blamed the cat for getting sand all over the carpet. Unless my cat turns into a thing that walks and talks when I am not looking, I don't think the cat is to blame. Just wait till Julia can blame her baby sibling for things :)

I hope everyone is having a good week. Thanks for all the well wishes- I am feeling 110% better!

The Not so Good Dinner

Thursday night I decided, the good housewife that I am, to make dinner. I am not going to tell you what I made because even speaking about it makes me still want to puke. Anyway, long story short- I got food poisoning. So bad that I ended up in the hospital on Friday night for dehydration and they wanted to monitor the baby. Well now it is Sunday and I am still having trouble eating since everything looks gross. And the best part Jon leaves tomorrow for a seminar in Las Vegas. I just hope that I can make my kid food while he is gone without wanting to throw up. I do get to take a 40 min. plane ride on Thursday and meet him there for the weekend (since it is on the company dime) so I hope I am better for that too. But to be honest- nothing will keep me from going to Vegas. So wish Julia some luck since her mommy is a single parent for the next 3 days :)

Just One of Those Days

Today is one of those days where you have somewhere to go yet you didn't prepare at all. Right now I am wearing the pants I have worn for 2 days straight, I haven't washed my hair in 3 days, and my toe-nail polish is chipped yet I am wearing flip flops. So basically I am looking HOT!!! I am meeting some moms- some of them I know, some of them I don't- and I am going to make the best impression in all of my hotness today! At least Julia will look presentable :)

Ever have one of those days??
