I Taught Her Well

As Julia was inspecting my newly pedicured toes she says "Mom, boys have to go to work so that girls can get their toes painted." Nice to know I taught her something! That's my girl :)

Mommy Tip #1

DO NOT- I repeat- DO NOT take a 4 year old and a 3 month old baby to the beach and expect it to be a day of ocean fun. For one, the 3 month old baby you describe to people as "the easiest baby ever" will turn into the demon child. Then the 4 year old who has no fear will run into the waves as far as she can not thinking that it is the ocean, not a swimming pool. As Forest Gump once said "Stupid is as stupid does."

PS- Vodka and 7-up does help you forget that it was a bad idea :)

Hell Just Froze Over

In effort to save money I decided that I would actually take the new iron out of it's box (the one I bought six months ago) and use it. I ironed 4 (count them 4) of his shirts this morning! It took me about 45 minutes and they look great! I just hope he doesn't expect me to do that all the time. And Mom I hope I made you proud :)

Martha I am Not, but I am Going to Try my Hardest to Be!!!!

Tomorrow I am a co-host for Summer's baby shower. Like a dumbass (which seems to be the theme for me this week) I volunteered to make the dessert. Well in my thinking I thought "Hey what about a cake?", but then we decided it was going to be a tea. So that means 4 different kinds of desserts- 30 of each. Uh huh- you read that right. So luckily I like to bake, but I am getting a little help from 2 packages of Jello No Bake Cheesecake. So this is what I am making:

Mini strawberry cheesecakes
Mini lemon cupcakes with lemon cream cheese frosting
Brownie squares with raspberries
Store bought cream puffs (hey I had to have some more help)

I am going to use the hubby as my taste tester- he better be nice. Then after the shower Summer and I are having a slumber party (well does 2 people make a party?) and I am so excited about that. I will be having some cocktails and she will be drinking water, but hey we still will get goofy!

Well I hope you all have a great weekend!

Mommy Needs a Brain

So I had mentioned the other day that Samantha was turning over, which I thought was pretty cool. Well yesterday I set her on the floor thinking that she would roll over and stay there. I ran upstairs (oh god bad mommy moment admitted) to throw the laundry in the dryer and when I came back down, she had rolled herself a good 5 feet and underneath the coffee table. Hello?? We are 3 months old and we already becoming mobile?? I am so not ready for this! Next she is going to find her way into the cabinet under the sink or something!! Time to make that trip to Target (oh wait I go there once a week anyway) to purchase all that baby proofing stuff. Doesn't work with Julia anymore since she figured out how to work that stuff at 2 years old. It was just a realization for me that I need to get my shit together :)

PS Can you tell I am having a REALLY good week or what?? (NOT)

Such a Dumbass

Ever have one of those days where you feel like such an idiot?? Well today is one of those days for me. When we were in Vegas, we walked for like 2 hours one night and I of course had to wear my cute, not good for walking, give you a huge blister, shoes. On Sunday morning I woke up to my left foot a little swollen and hurting. The last couple of days I have been ignoring it and I thought I could do the gym this morning. Well that was so stupid because now it hurts even more and I can hardly walk. Real smart Amanda :) Now as I was pulling into the garage, I was on the phone (recipe for diaster) and I pulled up a little too far and hit the garage wall. I didn't think anything of it till I looked and there is a huge scratch and the paint is coming off in one area. I need to lock myself in the bathroom for the rest of day so I am safe. Let's just hope I can manage the rest of the day with out burning down the house :)

What Happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas

Well we are back!! And boy did we have tons of fun! I love when my husband just lets loose and is carefree! We ate at some great restaurants, had too much to drink both nights, and spent so quality time together (wink, wink) It was a well deserved get away for the both of us. And my mom said the girls were fantastic which makes the weekend even more worth it! Now it is back to reality and laundry. I have to wash everything in my suitcase because it smells of Vegas. I also have to hug and kiss both my ladies because I missed them so much!

Little Samantha turned 3 months last week, and like last time I am taking my sweet time with her deserved blog entry. She is just the best baby! She weighs 13lb. 8 oz- that was 2 weeks ago so I bet we are pushing 14 now. She has those buttery legs that you just want to take a bite out of! She now is officially rolling over so she can not be left on any furniture. We also discovered that she is ticklish and laughs her head off when you get her in the right spot. This is to much amusement for Julia since she loves to make her smile and laugh. She has been sleeping almost through the night and I still wake up 2-3 times to check on her. I have to- I'm a mom! I just feel so blessed everyday that there is this tiny person in our lives. She has made the transition to two children so easy and I will never forget that. I just can't wait too see what kind of a person she grows up to be :)

I hope everyone had a great weekend! I look forward to reading all about :)

Mommy Needs a Vacation

As I was in labor with Samantha, Jon said to me "If you birth this baby before midnight I will give you whatever you want." This was purely selfish on his part since he wanted to go home and sleep and little did he know that I was for sure going to make him give me whatever I wanted! The doctor, nurse, and my mother were witness to this, so at 10:23 pm I pushed out our second child. Now I could of had diamonds, but I already have those. I could of had cash, but that would be weird to get paid for having a baby :) So I chose to go to one of my favorite places- Las Vegas! Now you may wonder why is that my favorite place? Well Mommy loves the lights and excitement. Has nothing to do with gambling because Jon and I are horrible at that. It is just a place where you can eat, drink , and be merry :) You also might wonder how I could leave my 3 month old daughter. Well she will be here with my mother and grandmother and I can not think of anyone else who can do it better (other than my MIL) She is also a pretty easy baby so I am not concerned. Julia is a pro at having someone watch her. She already has plans for my mom :) So Jon and I are off to Las Vegas tomorrow for a couple of days to enjoy each other, sleep, eat in restaurants that don't serve chicken fingers, and have a couple cocktails. Mommy needs and deserves a vacation :)

Mommy Needs Ear Plugs

Julia started taking at about 16 months and she has never stopped! This morning she woke up and I swear it was not until I dropped her off at school that there was silence. And only my girl would talk all the time about bugs. She is obsessed! She doesn't like pincher bugs "because they are gross Mom." and hates ants "there was one on my yesterday Mom and I flicked it off of me." Yet she will collect every single potato bug in our yard and confine them to an empty bubble container. I found about 25 of them in there yesterday! So gross! Anyway, I am sure they will be a point in my life that I will miss her like this. Just sometimes there is not enough coffee in the world to deal with a 4 year old :)

-Amanda

PS And she started calling me "Mom" instead of "Mommy"- kinda hurts the heart a little :(

Why??

Why is it I can sing all the classics- "How Much is the Doggy", "You are my Sunshine", "Oh Where, Oh Where" yet Samantha only falls asleep or smiles when I sing "My Humps" by the Black Eyed Peas? Julia's was "Work It" by Missy Elliot. Yes, they are strange, but so am I :)

No Wordless Wednesday Today- I Know I Suck :)

I have been lagging in taking pictures lately and the only pictures I have of our my kids. God knows you have seen enough of that :) Anyway, I do have a story of a Wordless Wednesday photo that you will NEVER see on this blog.

Yesterday Julia found a disposable camera in the mist of all the junk in one of our cabinets upstairs. I think I gave it to Jon like 5 years ago in his Christmas stocking. Anyway, I thought it would be cute to let her take her own pictures and develop them to see what she did, so I gave it to her. I went to go take a shower and Jon was on the computer in our loft/playroom. I got out of the shower, wrapped a towel around me, and started talking to Jon from my bedroom door which looks on to the playroom. Well I won't tell you the juicy details, but I decided to flash my husband and right as I did it, Julia came from around the corner and took a picture! Flash and all! I was mortified, yet we could not stop laughing! So there goes getting the pictures developed because I am not walking into our local Walgreens and putting my name on a slip and then picking them up when they are done. I also learned bad idea to give a 4 year old a camera :)

Okay so yes I want to be Jessica Simpson

Not that I want to be her, problems and all. I just want her hair color. And yes I know that it is fake, but I will be the first to admit that I have a little help in the blonde department. Anyway, when I was pregnant I went DARK and the hubby said he liked it. Now after some wifely prodding I got him to admit he likes me blonde. So what is my solution- make him pay for me to go blonde again. See, I've this being a wife thing down now. Just make it their idea :) Anyway, I am off to the salon today to go blonde and the girl who does my hair asked if I wanted "Jessica Simpson blonde" and I said yes!! Why not right?? I promise to post some pictures since I won't be washing my hair for 3 days. It always looks so cute when I come home from the salon why mess with it :) And besides I am meeting my brother's new girlfriend tomorrow and she is 5 years younger than me (my bro is 34) so I have to look cute. Wish me luck!

Have a great Saturday. Pictures I promise!

PS I would like to have Jessica Simpson's body too. I already have her big boobs :)

June Already??

Alright who put the year on fast forward and made it June already?? I feel like it was just January when it was nice and cold outside. The forecast for us looks like nothing but upper 90s and then it just gets worse :) Oh well, I guess that new bathing suit will come in handy (Land's End has great ones) Anyway, in light of it being the 6th month of the year I thought I would come up with 6 things I would like to do before the year is up. So here there are:

  1. Lose 15-20 lbs so that I can be at a weight where every single piece of clothing I own fits.
  2. Get Julia to learn all of her numbers and letters. She knows the letters in her name, but that is it and I been slacking lately on that whole thing.
  3. Visit my SIL at her house and not make them drive all the way down here :)
  4. Start my gym routine again- up to 4 times a week. They say it takes 21 days to make a habit. I just need to find time for day 1 :)
  5. Go through my clothes and the girl's clothes so that I have stuff to donate.
  6. Get pictures taken of both girls together since I have been lagging on that as well.

Well there you go. They are not out of reach ambitions. I just need to take some time and do them. What are your 6??
