Reflection

Since my 20's will come to an official close at midnight tonight, I thought I would reflect on the stuff that I accomplished in those years. There is so much that I am proud of and so much that I am thankful for. And if my 20's were this good then maybe my 30's won't be so bad. Maybe they are hiding something fantastic that I am not aware of yet. So my mantra for tomorrow and the next 10 years will be- Bring it On! I am ready :)

Things I Did In My 20's
- Met Jon
- graduated College
- Got my first "real" job that totally sucked
- Got Married
- Gave birth to the 1st grandchild on both sides :)
- Bought a house
- Saw Madonna in concert
- Actually stuck to a diet and lost 40 lbs.
- Gave birth to Samantha
- Completed a family :)
- Was able to get through the brake up Brad and Jennifer

I am sure there is more, but that is the major stuff. So now I ask you- what are some of the things that you are proud of that you have done in the last 10 years?

The Best Birthday Present Ever

Okay so 2 days and counting till the big 3-0! I am okay- just sitting here counting the grey hairs and wondering why I decided to dye my blonde hair brown which shows them more. Anyway, my darling little baby decided to give me a little present last night. She slept for 6.5 hours in a row!! Can I get a "Hell ya"?? And if that is not good she also waited till the Hubby got up with her to poop 2 times!! I love when she tortures him like that. Why does poop bother men so much?? So today I am a happy girl- let's hope I stay that way :)

PS- Gabby I didn't open the box you sent- Aren't you proud??

2 Weeks

She already has "The Look". She also has gained a 1/2 pound since birth because she eats like a little piggy. But we love her and she is really very easy. Let's hope that continues and I don't have 2 Julia's- aka The Drama Queen :)

The Countdown

Well today is the one week countdown till I am officially an adult. In 7 days it will be my (okay swallow and take a deep breath Amanda) 30th birthday. This year I am going to have a few friends over so they can help me have my first official cocktail since having the baby. Compared to last year, this will be a mellow one :)

Anyway, I got my present from the Hubby yesterday. Now he is not one for surprises and being born on April Fool's day either am I, so he told me what he was getting me this new ipod. I was very happy! It has everything and I can't wait to fiddle around with it! I am so spoiled :)

I hope everyone is having a great weekend! Hopefully good weather is with you!

Not Too Shabby

My friend Robin was kind enough to take my Weight Watchers scale out of my house while I was pregnant. Yesterday she decided to return it to me- thank you very much! Anyway, if you were a reader of this blog before I got pregnant, you would know that I had been on a diet for about 10 months and had lost 40 lbs. So when I got pregnant I went wild and started to eat, thus gaining the 30 lbs. I did :) Oh yes, I am the champion eater!! Well this morning I thought I would brave the scale and to my surprise I am only 7 lbs. more than I was when I got pregnant. I was shocked!! Can you really lose 23 lbs. in a week after having a baby?? Seems so strange. So today I am going to go through my clothes and get out of these sweats and see what fits me. Wish me some luck!!

Question?

Do you let your kids win when you play board games with them?? I might let some stuff slide when we are playing, but I want her to learn how to play the game correctly. Is that too harsh? Should I let her win all the time? Don't get me wrong- she does kick my ass at Candy Land all the time :)

PS As you can see we are all fine here. Baby is good, Julia is good, and I am on the path of being good. Just might take me a little while longer to get there :)

Into the Lion's Mouth

So I woke up this morning at 4 am to feed the baby. She has been so good- only waking up once a night to be fed, so I can't complain. I was ready to put her back to bed so that I could lay down for a little longer when Julia woke up and said she had to throw up. Checked her temp and it was 101. Started to panic and bit since this will be Jon's first day back to work and Julia would not be going to school as planned. Had a bit of a crying thing, but got over it. Also, my boobs are like bowling balls right now and hurt! I have also been in the house for 4 days and getting a little stir crazy.

So what have a I learned so far? That I am a mother of 2 kids now and shit happens. I know I have to deal and I think that is helping. I am no supermom, but at times I know I can be. Also, there is no harm in crying in the bathroom if it helps :)

Me vs. The Princess

Still no baby, but countdown to D-Day has begun- 3 days!!! We kept saying "this time next week..." this whole weekend. My favorite- "This time next week I can drink a beer!" or "This time next week I can sleep on my stomach."

Going to the doctor for the final exam and then I will be spending time with the other little one in my life the next couple of days. I promise that Miss. Drama Mama will update when things happen. I thank all of you for all of your kind words through out this whole pregnancy. You guys rock!!!

Love ya,
Amanda

I Forgot

You know the last time I was pregnant was like 4 years ago and I forgot how the last days just drag on. I feel like I ate a whole turkey and it is just sitting in my belly. It takes me like 5 minutes just to get up the stairs in our house. Then yesterday, one of the girls in Julia's class told me that her mom had her baby and we were due on the same day. Hello?? What about me?? Then I remember I have had friends go into their 41st week of pregnancy and can't even imagine how uncomfortable that must be. I am just sitting on the pity pot today and believe me it is quite a large one in order to fit my ass :)

Got Any??

Since I am sort of house bound in my last days of freedom, I am trying to fill my Netflix queue so that I have something to either entertain me now or at 3 in the morning with a baby in my arms. Got any movie recommendations?? I have seen most of the new stuff except for "Walk the Line" which I am waiting for. Just was wondering if there is a movie that is a must see that I might have missed :)

I hope you guys are having a good week!

Good News

So I am off permanent bed rest and my medication because my blood pressure was 100% normal. The baby is doing well too which was my main concern. Other than that everything is great and we scheduled my induction for March 16th. Maybe I will have a St. Patty's baby after all :) I am just happy that the light at the end is finally within reach!

Thanks for all of your support! You guys are awesome!

The Three Things

I have come up with the only three acceptable things I want to hear out of my doctor's mouth today. If he comes up with something not on the list, I might just be on the news tonight for causing a riot outside of my OB's office.

1- "Oh you are 3 centimeters dilated. Time to get you to the hospital to have this baby."
2- "Oh your blood pressure is fine so you can come off of bed rest today if you want."
3- "You know you have been such a good patient that I am going to induce you no later than Friday."

So keep your fingers crossed he listens :) Oh god I hope he listens!!!

-Amanda

PS- I am so happy that the song form "Hustle and Flow" won for best song last night. I have been singing it ever since I saw the movie :)

Still Here

By the end of this bed rest there is going to be a dip on my side of the bed where my big fat body has been positioned all this time. As you can see I am a little bitter about this whole bed rest thing :) There is something though that I have learned during this whole thing. I have a hard time depending on people since I am usually the one people depend on, so this experience has taught me that people don't mind if you lean on them every once and while. Actually they insist and make you do it even when you don't want to. I have such a great support group with family and friends that I am very lucky. I just wish I could appreciate them under different circumstances :)

I know there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Just wish there was a faster way to get there :)
